This paper presents information on the factors affecting the development of multilingual and multicultural communicative competence in interactive multimodal learning environments in an academic context. Based in the assertion that different cultures value aspects of communication differently, this study explored the position of Singapore on the continuum of communication apprehension (CA), self-perceived communication competence (SPCC), and willingness to communicate (WTC). Responses were obtained from 209 self-identified ethnic-Chinese born in Singapore and 105 Malay immigrants. The results revealed ethnic-Chinese to have low self-reported CA, while Malays had high CA in comparison to regional neighbors. Globalization and legislation have made it easier for football players to work abroad. The amount of football migrants in Finland is increasing each year. Koronapandemian myötä ryhmäkeskustelut tulivat osaksi opiskelijoiden etäopiskelun arkea. Opiskelijoiden asennoitumista sekä ryhmätyöhön että teknologiavälitteiseen vuorovaikutukseen on tutkittu, mutta tutkimusta etäopiskeluaikaisista ryhmäkeskusteluista ja niiden herättämistä tunteista ja asenteista ei vielä juuri ole. Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitetään, millaisena yliopisto-opiskelijat kokevat etäopiskelun reaaliaikaiset ryhmätilanteet ja millaisia asenteita ja tunteita ne heissä herättävät.
